The Boat & Canoe Club is home to Post/Unit/Riders #2, Post/Unit/SAL #258, and Post/Unit #356. Please contact our Office Manager at (616) 361-7685 Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-3:00 PM to receive contact information for the Adjutant of the Post/Auxiliary you wish to join. You may also stop by the Club Lounge to pick up a membership application. Alternately, you may visit the American Legion website for membership information. 

Eligibility Requirements for New Members of Posts/Units of The Boat and Canoe Club

If you have served federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving - you are eligible for membership in The American Legion!

*Because eligibility dates remain open, all active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the government of the United States. American Legion Membership Application 

**U.S. Merchant Marine eligible only from December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (WWII).


Bring the DD-214 discharge form to the club office, fill out the required paper work, and pay dues for one year - make check payable to the organization you are joining.

Composed of male and female spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion and produce the same proof of service of that veteran, same paper work, and same dues. American Legion Auxiliary Membership Application
